Pray for Jon & Tiffany Kile, Bill & Karen Lahl, Joe Quinn and Chad Crouch as they travel to Myanmar.
We had our send-off for them Sunday night 9/23 after Night of Worship.
Monday Night Update – They made it to Myanmar!
Tuesday Update – We have connected with the ministry families and on our way to the retreat at the capital. It is so good to be with them now and please pray for great fellowship and prayer and teachings in the Word. We are all rested today after being so tired from long travel but we are feeling good. Tiffany led our first team devotional from Psalm 78 and we were very blessed by that lesson.
Wednesday Update – Good morning. Thanks again for your prayers. We were so encouraged by last night’s devotional and worship time with the missionaries. The worship time in the Burmese language was beautiful but they need prayer because “Amazing Grace” is NOT that popular here so they couldn’t do it for us in Burmese. They are going to work on it and do it for us. Today we are visiting the city and some activities like the zoo. Please pray for coming Saturday for the marriage conference because some mothers/wives may not be able to attend due to a school issue. Please pray they can make it. We love you all. Thanks again for the prayers. We are all well. Grace and peace to you.
Thursday Update – Yesterday Tiffany asked Jeremy how we could bless the Silas’ Khuppi and Thomas families and Jeremy said this retreat is a huge blessing because they never get away like this. They work 7 days a week and never take vacations so for them to all be together for a few days away from their daily routines is such a blessing to them. We didn’t realize what this kind of retreat does for them, but it is such an encouragement. Times of worship and teaching and deeper kind of fellowship that they wouldn’t get otherwise. Thanks for your prayers and support.
Friday Update – Today (Saturday in Myanmar) starts our 2-day Marriage and Family Conference. Obviously there is a lot to pray for on that. One of the biggest challenges for us is teaching with a translator without losing the flow and impact of what is being taught. Pray for Jon as he is starting off the conference with a teaching. Pray for all those attending the conference today and tomorrow.
Saturday Update – The conference was so good. They loved the teaching and we had great times of questions and answers. The best part was the people and getting to know them. Pastor Kim is a humble, gentle godly man and we loved him and his church.
Sunday Update – So today we are going to the International school to do chapel for all the kids. Chad will lead a lesson about Elijah and the altar. Bill will do his trick with fire and we will do some songs too. But we started off the morning with some awesome cinnamon rolls that Ping made and Bruce brought to us (see below).
Monday Update – We did the chapel time for the International school. A couple of songs first which the kids absolutely love to do and join in right away. As the children arrive, the teachers come out to help them unload. Afterward, Bill and Jon were wore out from the heat and story time and singing, and fell asleep right after lunch at the Bustle’s.
Tuesday Update – So today starts the preachers’ academy and women’s conference. This is the main reason for us being here. This is a tough 3 days for Jon because preaching with the interpreter takes a lot more concentration and the room is hot but the pastors are great. Please pray that all of this will be effective and clear and God would powerfully use this time to train up and equip these pastors for ministering to their people and reaching people for the Gospel. As for the women’s conference, pray for Tiffany and Karen as they already are concerned they can do a great job according to the women’s culture and bind with their hearts. Pray their teaching will effect the women’s role as pastor’s wives and that grace, unity and peace would move righteously with His Word deep in the hearts of these women.
Wednesday Update – Thirty nine women came to the women’s conference! Praise the Lord that Su Hung Gee also showed up. She is the girl from the orphanage who we support. After lunch today, we brought the men and women together for a time of singing by Tiffany and Khuppi, devotional by Silas, Joe thanked everyone and Bill did his tricks. The power went out all afternoon and Jon was drenched with sweat from the heat. It was especially hard on the women because they were packed in a small room and TIffany and Karen had to keep teaching. Pray the power stays on tomorrow and that we get much rest and have strength to finish well tomorrow. This was Bill’s last day here. He is heading home tomorrow morning.
Friday Update – The team is on their way home. They made their connections and are scheduled to be home tonight 10/5/18. Thank you all for your prayers during the last 2 weeks!
